FAQs

How do I become a certified WetSuit® applicator?

Steps to becoming a Certified WetSuit® Applicator:

  1. Request the Neptune Coatings Applicator Pre-Qualification Form, complete and submit it back to the manufacturer. Alternatively, go to the website.
  2. Schedule Pre-qualification review with Neptune Coatings.
  3. Upon approval, schedule a training session at Neptune Coating’s facility in Las Vegas, NV, or on-site (special conditions apply).

Does the WetSuit® material require specialized equipment to apply?

WetSuit® 2 PART: Yes. The mix ratio of the WetSuit® 2 PART is integral to a successful finished product. This requires the use of the patented WetSuit® dispensing equipment along with the custom-designed spray gun and tips. These items are manufactured and sold by Neptune Coatings. The equipment and spray gun is specifically designed to maximize product performance and increase production. The real benefit is increased productivity, reduced labor cost, and product waste.

WetSuit® 1 PART, WetSuit® TROWEL, and  WetSuit® UNDERCOVER  products can be sprayed thru the WetSuit®  pressure pot system or you may choose to use a roller brush, trowel, or mastic brush.

How much does the equipment cost?

Please contact our Distribution partners or Neptune Coatings for current pricing and availability on equipment, parts, and accessories.

What is the difference between WetSuit® and WetSuit® 1 PART?

Neptune Coatings WetSuit® 2 PART system has a catalyst (Part B) that creates an 80% cure within the first 3 seconds. The membrane could be sprayed to ANY mil thickness in one coat!

Neptune Coatings WetSuit® 1 PART is supplied as a single-component system. The chemistry and physical properties are very similar to the WetSuit® 2 PART, without the benefit of the unique Instant Set properties offered by the WetSuit® 2 PART.

How many square feet will a 55-gallon kit of material cover?

This depends on the application (roofing, waterproofing, or building envelope), the surface profile of the substrate (smooth or irregular), as well as the thickness specified. In a roofing application with a smooth surface at 60 mil thickness, the yield would be 18 s/f  (1.6 m2) per gallon.

What is the minimum Dry Mil Thickness of the WetSuit® Liquid Applied Membrane?

The thickness depends on the type of project.

  • Roofing: 60 mils dry
  • Waterproofing: 80 mils dry vertical. 100 mils dry horizontal
  • Air/Vapor barrier: 40 mils dry

How many square feet can be applied in a day?

A three-man crew can apply between 12,000 to 15,000 square feet per day at 60 dry mils once the substrate has been prepared and pre-detailing executed.

What are the application temperatures?

35 F (1.6 C) and rising.  It is important to note the WetSuit® product is water-based. Do not apply in freezing conditions or on substrates with a temperature exceeding 200F (93 C)

Follow MMFT guidelines mainly substrate temperature higher than ambient temperature

Does WetSuit® come in other colors?
